how would you describe your style of art?
Organic? I always find it hard to describe art of any kind.
as some people may know you are also a musician, does your music influence your art or vice versa?
Most definitely. I think they go pretty hand in hand. Both could be described as gentle, but with touches of a more aggressive type quality now and then. Most of the music that I produce has a nice layer of polyrhythms underneath it, textured out with a lot of strings and piano. Nice smooth basses. Some female vocal snippets here and there. I like to think that it brings to mind a different place, one that looks like my visual work.
do you prefer to treat a sculpt more as a character or a canvas?
Mostly I treat them as characters but with a lot of canvas type themes mixed in as well. I’d like to move more away from character stuff, but it’s tricky. I really admire those that do it so well!

is there any sculpts that you haven’t gotten your hands on that you would love to customize?
Oh, wow. Hmmmm…
The first thing that comes to mind is J Neth’s recent SDCC exclusive resin set of Neth creatures. They’re so serene and beautiful. And heavy! Really just impressive pieces. I’d like to do a Taxali Monkey. CRG’s girls would be fun! Buff’s pieces. Benny and Red Bird. Muttpop’s figures. Those are the first that come to mind, but I’m sure there’s more.
what would you consider the hardest part in the customization process?
Stripping the paint! Really don’t like that part. Ha ha!
who would be the one person you would love to have a customized toy done by?
Doktor A, but he just finished a piece for me. Other than that, I’m not entirely sure. I love B’s work. motorbot’s more classic, left out in the rain kind of looking stuff is really catching my eye. I want something from squidboy and Lou, too. They do great work, but they’re friends, too. There’s some new guys that are doing some really cool stuff, but I haven’t been paying close enough attention to name names.
In the more pro side of things, Kathie O and Julie West.
I’m really moving towards a more classic sensibility with my collecting. If I could ever get Gary Taxali or Pressler to do a piece, that would be amazing!
what was one or two of the most memorable commissions you have done [painting or toy]?
Each one feels really special for different reasons. Some more so than others. The Treedweller and Tequila were two of my favorites. The 8″ dunny I did for you was very cool for me, because I used a bunch of techniques I’d never tried before, and I was incredibly happy with the way it turned out. The “Heiress Arcana” Fatima is probably my all time favorite custom of mine, though.

how were you approached in doing your first production toy?
Ummm… Who told you about this? I want his name!
Just kidding. Well, I believe it was just an email and I was very flattered to be considered. I agreed to it, a template was sent, and I began working on the design. It’s a platform piece showcasing 5 different artists. There will be a blank version as well. I’m hoping to hear an update soon as to how it’s coming along.
is there any toy you would love to be apart of its production pieces?
Madl because I just love those figures! Second would be a dunny. Preferably in a 3″ series that was popular enough to have translated to 8″. That would be quite flattering! Probably the best platform to be involved with because of the sheer amount of exposure.

if dear earthling were a sandwich, what type of sandwich would you be and why?
Ha ha! Am I on candid camera? Cheers for a funny question, my friend.
I don’t know exactly what would be on it, but I think it would have to be called the “Jive Honky”. Sounds irresistable, doesn’t it?
