to those out there that might not know of SKAFFS, how would you best sum up your work in three words?
Vibrant, Sexy, Stylish
the colors you choose play very well off each other in your individual pieces, do you have particular colors you like to work with more than others?
Final color choice is integral to my finished pieces. I like to use vibrant contrasting colors and use them in a way that the characters jump off the page. Before I start each piece I have some idea of the colors I like to use and then I revisit it again as a final step.

how has living in different parts of the world influenced your work?
It has been a great opportunity to work in different parts of the world. Different cultures, meeting new people and visiting new places have definitely influenced my work.
i saw recently the prototype for you first production toy. when can we expect to see it in stores? any colorways?
I am hoping for early 2008. There will be 4 different colorways. Keep checking back at www.skaffs.com for the latest news on this.

would you like to do a platform toy? any one particular you would like to do?
Yes. I’ve already done a couple of platform toys and they’re always a lot of fun. I enjoy the challenge of adapting my style to different platforms. Kidrobot’s Dunny, 10″ Gosho figure from Super Rad Toys and the 12″ HazMaPo’s from UNKL are very cool.
you seem to be a modern day renaissance man dabbling in everything from animation to toy design to music composition, do you find yourself focusing one thing more than the next?
It definitely keeps me busy doing illustrations (acrylic, ink, marker and digital), animations, toys and music. Commissions tend to be illustration and animation work. My ultimate goal is to see my animation concepts on television one day soon so animation and music tend to take up a lot of time too.
i have to say vinyl adhesive prints are very interesting, where did the idea come from?
In 2006, I collaborated with Pop Cling to create the SKAFFS vinyl adhesive line. Pop Cling came up with this cool concept of ‘adhesive-backed art’. It gives consumers an opportunity to revive any smooth surface (wall, car, table, etc.) with minimal effort and at a minimal fee.

you have several shows already lined up for the upcoming year, is there one you are looking forward to more than others? why?
Melbourne is home, so I am definitely looking forward to the solo art exhibition at Paper Shadow Gallery in April 08. Being amongst a home crowd is always a lot of fun. I just got back from Hawaii and had the awesome opportunity to collaborate with artist Angry Woebot (www.armyofsnipers.com) to do a live mural at a Waikiki beach club. Doing this type of show with such a cool artist is always inspiring.
fact: the most globally understood word is ‘okay’ the second is ‘coke’, this year you created ads for coca cola, what was it like working for the most recognized company in history?
Working on the 2007 Coca-Cola advertising campaign was awesome. It was great to see a company take such a modern approach by using my SKAFFS designs.

if SKAFFS was a form of transportation, what would you be and why?
SKAFFS would definitely be a hot air balloon. They are vibrant, majestic, stylish and gives you the sense of flight.
