did you know you always wanted to be an artist or doing something artistic/creative when you were a wee lad or did you once have dreams of practicing law?
I think I always wanted to be an artist, but I didn’t know how or what kind of artist that I would be. My parents were supportive, but gave little to no guidance. I used to draw extremely rendered crayon drawings of my star wars figures exploding into rainbow colors.
if you had magical cabinetry, like the Indian in the Cupboard, which one of your toys would you like to see come to life and what would their day to day be like?
All of the toys I have live vivid lives in my head, but hard to say which one I would want to come to life the most. Maybe steven. I would like to follow him around for a while watching him eat figs, and play his drums, and steal wallets so he can buy jam slobbered bagels.

besides your own creations, what is your favorite toy to customize and why?
I like most anything gargamel does. I love the way kiyoka sculpts. It’s like
a thin layer of butter covers every angle and crease.
if you had to resculpt any classic monster, put the bwana touch to it, which one would it be and why?
I love gyango, from Ultraman. I would love to rework him, and I was pretty jelous when Touma got to have his way with him.
the grasshut group is a really tight artist crew, if you were going to do an art rendition of West Side Story, which gang would grasshut be and who would you rumble against?
We would be the hairbear gang and we would fight everybody- giant Robot gang, Super 7 gang, gargamel gang, those guys that looked like tony alva with the make up and baseball jerseys on. There have been a few arm wrestling matches between rival gangs in SD. Those went pretty well for grass hut.

with your own sneakers and jewelry, if bwana spoons was to create a new fashion trend what would it be called and what would it be?
I would make everybody put a giant crease In the middle of their baseball caps, and they would have to put a feather in the cap too.
i am a man that sports a beard myself, what do you think are the best advantages of having the mountain man look?
Not shaving is nice, and once it gets real long it’s not prickly or itchy. Peeple will fuck with you, like make fun of your beard, but with the beard they very rarely take it too fight level cause they get scared that you might be crazy.
when do you feel that a painting or custom is complete? do you have a set idea in mind or do you just let the colors do the talking as you go?
With paintings it’s both. Sometimes it’s completely abstract and I let the paint blobs determine the outcome, and sometimes I have it sketched out in advance.
With customs it’s all about colors and patterns and how they work together. It’s always hard to know when to say when especially the more abstract it gets. So often my work has multiple layers and sometimes even another painting or two underneath.

if bwana spoons was one of those mastercard priceless ads, what would the ad be?
No flippin way. Even just fer fun. I don’t have problems with corporations, but you’ll never see me hyping a credit card.
You know it’s going to happen too. It’s already happening a bit with artists designing credit cards, just a matter of time before you see some douche bag artist promoting credit cards.
